Kurma, (Sanskrit: “Tortoise”) is one of the 10 avatars (incarnations) of the Hindu god Vishnu. In this incarnation Vishnu is associated with the myth of the churning of the ocean of milk – Manthan.
This turtle submerged in water in the plate, is used during pujas as a symbol of the Kurma avatar and symbolizes ancient wisdom and emotional strength. Placed at the entrance of the home, it attracts positive energy, prosperity and peace.
